Types of Thickeners

In general, thickener is applied to finish the work of concentrating and tailings dewatering before filtration. It also goes for the chemical industry, sewage treatment industry, and concentration and purification of solids. The thickener is mainly composed of two parts including thickening tank and rake-type mud scraper, and the tank is used to store the slurry while the scraper is used to deal with the settling materials. Thickeners can be classified on the basis of the way of transmission, which includes center transmission thickener and peripheral transmission thickener. The latter one also can be classified into running roller transmission and rack transmission thickener. Recently, in many factories, the center-feeding way has been replaced by the peripheral-feeding way and bottom-feeding way. And this change could increase the capacity of the thickener, effectively reduce the solid content of the overflow, improve the concentration of the settling sand, improve the shape and structure of the thickener, so that the conical structure can increase the speed of settling dramatically and enlarge the capacity.
